ACTV
ACTV (NASDAQ:IATV)
was a publicly traded enhanced media company founded in 1983. Based in New York City, with offices in Los Angeles, Dallas,
Houston, Denver and Branchburg, New Jersey, the Company offered proprietary software-based products and services for interactive
digital television and synchronized-to-broadcast internet delivered content. The spread of digital TV transmission, the deployment
of digital set-top boxes, and the adoption of convergent TV/Internet platforms created the market for ACTV’s offerings.
A portfolio of patents, including 24 issued U.S. patents and 35
issued or allowed foreign patents, supported the ACTV products.
ACTV's
portfolio of companies included SpotOn, a joint venture with Motorola, which enabled television programmers and advertisers
to create and deliver targeted, interactive TV commercials to individual households. SpotOn offers the advertising community
greater effectiveness of targeted ads, and offers the distribution community a more competitive product to compete with print.
Mr. Reese
began his career at ACTV in 1988 as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the Company's Initial Public Offering in 1990. As
President and Chief Executive Officer, Reese oversaw a secondary offering resulting in a market capitalization exceeding $3
Billion. During this time, Reese led a team of creative producers and video engineers who were recognized on two occasions
by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Emmy award. Reese arranged the sale of ACTV to Liberty Media in 2003, and concluded his consulting relationship with Liberty
Media in 2008.
